What is Male Gynecomastia? Male Gynecomastia is a common condition in men and boys where the breast tissue swell due to an imbalance of the hormones estrogen and testosterone. This can affect one or both breasts and sometimes leave them uneven. Boys going through puberty and older men are prime targets due to the imbalance of hormone levels at these times. However, there are other causes that also exist like heredity conditions, disease or the use of certain drugs.

Luckily this isn’t life threatening, but it can be a major blow to a man’s confidence and self image. It is common for men to have some pain, feel embarrassed and even avoid certain physical activities and intimacy to hide their condition. In some cases this condition can go away on its own. In many cases however, plastic surgery may be needed to resolve the issue.

For guys this can be a very difficult issue especially because it is so rare in men. Also, men rarely even discuss topics like this with each other. So the psychological pain and suffering can go on unnecessarily for a very long time. Liposuction, also known as Lipoplasty and affectionately called Lipo is a surgical procedure that slims, reshapes, and contours specific areas of the body.  Despite good health and a great workout regimen, some of us may still have to deal with localized fat deposits that regardless of what we do, we just can’t seem to get rid of them. This can be for many reasons including our family genes and not necessarily a lack of weight control or fitness.

What Lipo CAN do for us

Liposuction can be used to treat stubborn fat pockets in many parts of the body including:

  • Abdomen and waist
  • Thighs, hips, and buttocks,
  • Arms, neck and back
  • Inner Knee
  • Chest,
  • Cheeks and Chin
  • Calves and ankles

Liposuction is also used in conjunction with other procedures like breast reduction, tummy tucks, and the Brazilian butt lift to name a few.

What Lipo CAN’T do for us

Lipoplasty is not a cure or treatment for obesity and cannot replace regular exercise and good nutrition.  Lipoplasty is more for contouring and less of a weight loss procedure.

Liposuction reduces cellulite?

False: Unfortunately this is not true. Liposuction removes the fat that is in the deeper tissue layers but not the superficial fat deposits that contribute to cellulite.

There is a Non-Surgical Liposuction procedure?

False: The fact is, regardless of what we may see on TV or heard from friends all forms of liposuction are surgical procedures. There are many body slimming devices out there in the marketplace, however, there is little evidence on how effective these procedures really are.

Summertime and Your Body!!!

The days are definitely getting longer so we no longer have any excuses after work to do some type of exercise!

Mornings are by far the best time to work out! Its done; you are off to work, and you don’t have to think about dragging your tired self to the gym after work. But, if you can not do mornings, then the beautiful summer evenings are your best bet.

Get out there and do something! Walk, bicycle, do whatever you want, but be sure to get that heart rate up. Walk around the block or to the park. Find a cool spot and do some jumping jacks, squats, and lunges. Challenge your self to do more each time and build your endurance.

Walking is great but if weight loss is your desire then you will eventually have to do more than walk. In the coming weeks we’ll discuss all of that and give you some quick and easy tips to transform your fitness life in minutes.  You will learn where your heart rate needs to be in order to improve your cardio-respiratory fitness, and just where you heart rate should be to start the fat burning process.  Of course, what you eat is also important, but we’ll discuss that another time.  Till next time, enjoy the bright sun and get moving today!
